We were surprised by how good the movie was. No needless sex scences and nudity. A really good movie.

it took awhile, but it ended up being really good. they could have cut the time down to 2 hours and it would have been excellent.

one of the best movies in a long time for me. Good story, well told and beautifully photographed. They should have left the deleted scenes in - particularly the 'leaving' one. I saw it 3 times in theaters, once at home and will add it to my collection. Enthusiastically recommend this movie to everyone.

I loved this movie. Some of the reviewers stated how it started out funny and became a drama.... I say, "so what" it was good. I was in no rush to watch this and it was an amazing pleasant surprise on how good it is. I wish I could watch it again for the first time. I love Hugh Jackman (duh) and I am not a huge Nicole Kidman fan, but, wow, she is awesome in this movie. A must see movie!

This turns out to be like one of those goofy westerns where children end up driving the herd across deserts while fighting off bad guys. The Kidman character is overdone, and Jackman's main contribution is his physical attractiveness. Some plot elements were confusing, IMHO, while others were annoyingly predictable. Nicely filmed on location.

If your in the mood for a good dose of white guilt then this is the movie for you. The New York times reviews the movie as "cattle-drive Western, war picture, anti- racist message movie". Yeah if your not White. From begining to end the message is clear,. Evil Whites are the problem, except for the "Aborigi" loving Jackman and Kidman. But what would one expect form a white Hollywood liberal that dated black Lenny Kravitz. As typical of most Hollywood movies the stupid White man is saved by the noble non-White and the leading lady is a helpless, snob that is over educated, but could not tie her own shoe. Western civilzation is made a mockery of, as the third world, savage culture of the aborigins is perfered. Except for Jackmon there is rarely one scene that Whites are not put down, made fun of, shown as drunks, stuck up, evil, greedy, racist bigots. The only thing missing is the director missed his chance to show Australians as Nazi sympathizers.

This has to be one of the worst movies ever put on celluloid. This is one of oonly two movies that I walked out on, the other being Miami Vice. Don't waste your time or energy watching this. It doesn't know if it is a comedy, drama, or epic war movie and it gets lost in its own misery.
