Read More I thought my 6 year old would enjoy this and I fondly remembered Alvin and the Chipmunks from when I was young. The acting will remind you of old 60 Disney movies, very obviously blue screened; the actors have no idea what they are talking to or where it is. The direction is hamfisted and the acting sloppy and over the top. By the way, the 6 year old *didn't* like it and I cringed through almost all of it. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Read More I can remember Alvin and the Chipmunks from my childhood and looked forward to seeing this movie. As a teacher of 6th grade, my students love this movie and I like to watch these movies so I can understand what they're talking about. However, I couldn't stay awake for this one. I'm a person that watches bad movies to the end usually, but I just couldn't with this one. The storyline is predictable and the chipmunks were the only laughable thing. I don't remember thinking, "I wish they'd bring back Alvin and the chipmunks" But ... Read More I remember watching Alvin and the Chipmunks as a kid. It was never my favorite, but for a kid it was entertaining. I don't remember thinking, "I wish they'd bring back Alvin and the chipmunks" But we got them back in this movie and it's not really great. I can tell you it's completely safe entertainment for kids, but for me, not so good. It falls short of movies that entertain all ages like Toy Story and Shrek. In fact the story is pretty much the same tired cliched paint by numbers outing you'd expect from a film like this. Uncle Ian is a character that appears in every movie about new music stars that are taken advantage of until they get burned out. I found it dumb, insulting, and silly. I can't recommend it.
