Many cultural and political viewpoints are represented, but the 19th-century Lakota people--Native Americans of Wounded Knee and Pine Ridge--are the heart of this film. It is filled with unforgettable scenes. In one, the shaman Wovoko teaches a new dance to his people, who chant and circle around him. Chiefs Sitting Bull and Red Cloud also fill the screen. Don't miss this movie! Much to be learned from it. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

Read More Thank you hollywood for eloquently portraying a story that I has always been curious about. The actors became the character as though the part was created just for them. The story was written flawlesly and I was able to follow without question. I would recommend people to buy this for their collection and allow their children to watch it and sit with them for questions. It is great to see that hollywood is making films to help us people to understand history better and at the same time entertain us and our couriosity! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? If you like this, see "Little Big Man." Although it moves from the lives of character to character, it does so seamlessly. It helps to know a little history of the post Civil War, indian fights period, but still is understandable and touching. A good snapshot of the life of Sitting Bull. The story depicted in the "oaters" for decades, with few exceptions, shows the indians as the "bad guys." This film helps right that wrong to some extent as far as history goes. Well done! Read More Well I was hoping for some type of history from this movie, but it kept jumping around and flash backing so much that we kept getting lost in it and then spent time trying to fiugre out who was who and where they were. Because it jumped around so much and left you wondering and figuring it was hard to see what happened. I was hoping it would be a movie to show my 13 year old to help understand what happend but he got bored in about 30 minutes and was like the rest of us--wondering what was going on.
