waaaayyyy too seriously is there, but its about alot more. The demonizing and the coniving going around with this
is hilarious. That aforementioned humorous aspect that lingers throughout the doc, just makes this increasingly
funny and quite good. Really great movie. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

In his case that one thing is Donkey Kong. Some of us remember when Donkey Kong was new and exciting, that was over twenty years ago. However, there are those that cling to that dream of an arcade that once was and never shall be again. Our hero, Steve, is one of those people. He plays hours a day to be the best. I enjoyed watching this movie and all the while I couldn't help but think "There but for the grace of something better to do, go I". Much has been made of Steve's nemesis Billy Mitchell, but it is largely overblown. So what if Mitchell is an over-coiffed man/child with delusions of grandeur. He hasn't done anything of note since the mid-1980's. There is an air of manufactured story here and while I like the film, I can't help but think that it might have been better to watch Steve beat the odds without the "Evil Overlord of Kong" skulking about in the background. Read More This was a documentary that I thought would be nothing more than a chance for me to get my "geek" on. And parts of it are actually that, but the film is so much more, once it's finally over. At its core it's a movie about how the little guy gets railroaded by the establishment. I absolutely could not believe how Billy Mitchell treats Steve Wiebe and just how corrupt the Twin Galaxies company appears to be. It's like a bunch of nerds got together to form a cult around Billy Mitchell and collectively can't stand the idea that someone like Wiebe (an infinitely likable guy) would challenge their savior. Take the video game element out of the story and you still have a compelling story. Excellent. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More This movie was great and I wasn't expecting it. What was most impressive to me is that the film makers stayed true to making a documentary despite the obvious opportunities to deviate from it given the footage they were given. Also, on a scale of 1 to 10, the unintentional comedy in this movie rates at least a 12. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

But along the way, you also get caught up in the drama and competition.
I don't know how they made a movie about this... but it worked. You should see this movie. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

You get so wrapped up in the world of Donkey Kong that you forget it's just an arcade game. The character development is extremely deep and well constructed. You love Steve Wiebe, you hate Billy Mitchell. This is SUCH a good film. I'd absolutely recommend renting it! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
