A classic movie that stands the test of time. A well-paced script with a simple message, good direction, and perfectly cast. And once Veronica Lake appears, you can't take your eyes off the screen.
The greatest film ever made starring Veronica Lake and Joel McCrea entitled "Sullivan's Travels." Watch for the scene stealing one-legged hobo played by Robert Dudley and America's favorite former motorcycle cop/actor, Edgar Dearing, playing motorcycle cop in mud gag.

This is my 2nd go at submitting a review of this classic. Makes me wonder how many others have been discouraged from reviewing by having their opinions flushed. Sullivan, as I said before, may not be the funniest Sturges (if you're looking for laughs try Miracle of Morgan's Creek or Hail the Conquering Hero), but then Sullivan's not trying simply to be funny. It's a comedy noir, & some of the darkness & bleakness is pretty graphic, especially considering when the film was made. But it's not a gloom & doom bumout either, & the positively upbeat conclusion seems right. Close this Review
