The main reason the movie doesn't work is because the plot is so weak, and it's impossible to say why without giving away plot elements. Indiana Jones made many impossible escapes in his earlier movies, but Indy surives something I'm not sure Superman would survive at the end of the first sequence. Worse, this movie is edited to be much slower than the other films: there is too much time to think watching this movie. This is sort of The Phantom Menace of the Indiana Jones series: a cheesy, poorly thought-out addition to a series of great movies. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has no heart and not much of a pulse...and interestingly, no kingdom of the crystal skull. The script even got the character wrong: the Indy of the first three movies was independent and suspicious of the US Government...in this film it is said he spent years as government spy. Recommended to those under 13 not afraid of gross-out special effects.

Indy was always a little over the top, but this was ridiculous! 5 words: refrigerator, tarzan, ants, niagara, and Greys...

Great performance by Harrison Ford. The rest, as a whole, is really lazy and uninspired. Sometimes even stupid.

Simply put, Indiana Jones did not belong in this sci-fi story. Yes, the older movies were excentric, but they dealt more with the supernatural and would not fall under the sci-fi label. I never forgot that I was in a theater and couldn't stop thinking that Indy's character was terribly out of place in almost every scene, especially the ending. I had read an interview with Spielberg that he wanted to use Frank Darabont's script (he adapted "The Shawshank Redemption", "The Green Mile" and "The Mist", so his resume speaks for itself) but George Lucas was set on using Koepp's. I wonder how much better this movie would have been if Lucas had stepped aside and given Spielberg full control. Sometimes I think Lucas has lost touch with his audience.

The beginning of it was really good then it turned out to be an alien movie which was kind of wierd. I could have lived with out the space ship at the end. The old ones were ten times better than this one. This one just looked to fake compared to the other ones. This movie just turned out real corny at the end. I give it 2 stars.

There were many chee-zee parts of this movie (like when Indy survives an atomic blast at ground zero by hiding in a refrigerator!), but I think that is all part of the fun of this movie franchise. The story was interesting, combining mystery, action / adventure, and sci-fi neatly, with only a few glitches that you can laugh at. Lucas & Spielberg are definitely good at what they do -- you can see the seeds for 3-D adventure rides at theme parks & water parks sprouting up next summer, and the ability to continue more movies with "Indy" Jones III... Overall, entertaining & worth the $ for a couple hours of your time.

Harrison Ford is back in form as Indiana Jones in the fourth entry to the series. While the plot is a bit of a departure from the other films ( the whole Plains of Nazca thing seems more suited to Agent Mulder than Dr. Jones) the movie still works as an entertaining thrill ride. All of the trademarks of an "Indy" film are there- the humor, the battles with the bad guys, the action set pieces, and the miraculous escapes ( though one of these may make many shake their heads ). All in all a terrific adventure movie that the whole family can enjoy, though very young ones may be unnerved by the sight of mummified skeletons and the killer ants. The acting was good, the special effects well done, and the storyline was decent enough. The ending wraps things up nicely, and while it'd be nice to see Indy back again, Spielberg and Lucas need to come up with a story that rivals "Raiders of the Lost Ark". Definitely worth seeing in the theater . Grab some popcorn and enjoy!

Of course Harison isn't so bad either...Anyway this movie really is worth the watch but to be honest it is not as good as the first 3 films! My fav will always be the second indie film hopefully there will be no other films unless they can come up with a good plot.. Enjoy the ride!

Worth the wait for a movie to rock the year after 5 months of almost nothing hitting the market worth watching lucas brings out a movie that ties in perfect with the originals as well as holds its own as a single the story carries nice all the way threw with some slight relazations of what was going to come next however the quest for all ends up being the ultimate crusade to ones own distruction and the arc of the covenate makes a cool cameo well done

Raiders of the Lost Ark was Ford's true opus, not Star Wars. Raiders cemented Ford as an iconic legend of our day and his most favorite role of all time. I wish he stayed with this role and made more in the series. It would be awesome to see Indy against mummies in Egypt searching for the lost medallion that brings ancient kings & their enemies back to life. We can also see Ford in the curse of the Amazon where he battles ancient Aztec kings and giant anacondas in the river while seeking the pure silver statue that brought death to the whole Mayan empire when the Aztecs stole it. Indy's return of the statue gives life back to the Mayans still living in the Mexican Jungle. Spielberg, take note and make more episodes while Mr. Ford can still do his own stunts. Don't get me wrong, Harrison was great in his more serious roles. If you have not seen FRANTIC, get it TODAY! it is awesome, Firewall was awful. Luckily, Ford returns in all his glory with the reprise of Indiana Jones.
