Read More Our family, with two young teens, enjoyed Christmas Do-Over. The acting is fair for the genre, the humor is tense and steady, the scenery is festive, and the story is engaging, although, it is an obvious spinoff of Groundhog Day (1993). Jay Mohr often plays self-assured, virtueless, loudmouths. Voila! He's perfect for this role as Kevin. My wife and I appreciate dysfunctional family movies (The Ref, Home For The Holidays) so we got a kick out of the interactions Kevin has with his in-laws as congeniality degrades over time. At first Kevin is only there for his son whose pure-hearted wish catalyzed the miracle that transfixed Kevin into having to endure endless days of Christmess with himself and his mistakes. Kevin eventually gets righteous evolving back toward his ex-wife but first he gets much worse. The brawl with a Santa and a nativity Joseph, who operate exhibits that aggressively compete with Kevin's father-in-law's at the county fair, was FUNNY NY-NY NY-NY!!! I thought the way Jay Mohr treated his son was disgusting. Then his bad behavior replayed over and over. The fight that broke out at the Christmas Fair involving "Jesus" and Santa was especially in bad taste. Yuck. Don't waste your time or money. Sorry Jay! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? The kids quit watching after ten minutes because it was so boring. Those of us who did sit through it couldn't wait for this movie to be over. The main character is tortured by having to do Christmas day over and over and over and over. The viewer feels equally tortured. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
4 out of 5 people found this review helpful I kept waiting for Bill Murrey to come out somewhere, it was like watching groundhog day in slow motion. Some funny parts, for sure this is not a best on my list!WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Only so many ways you can attempt to repeat the "bad day" and still be amusing. After the third do-over (out of maybe 15 do-over's --- I lost count), everything was so predictable. Only kept watching to see who or how someone was going to get beamed by the ball at the start. The only do-over that wasn't attempted was the one where he pulls up to the house, goes over to where the kids are kicking the ball around, pulls out a switchblade and stabs the ball so he doesn't get beamed with it later.
