This was a delightful, thoughtful, and endearing film. The director has captured the essence of boyhood and the 1980s without being didactic or artificial.

Great kid actors, funny quirky story. Laughs for the whole family. A much better movie along the same lines is "Billy Elliot" a MUST see film now made into a broadway musical.

*NO SPOILERS* Son of Rambo actually suprised me and turned out to be a fun movie. The acting is good and the movie keeps your attention. The flim deserves it's PG-13 rating, but could have easily did away with some scenes in order to get a PG rating. **The characters do some crazy stunts and as long as your kids don't mimic everything they see on the big screen, you will be okay. You should also know there are scenes with kids smoking (uneccesary for the movie) and also the infamous cutting of hands and becoming "blood brothers".** If these things don't concern you, then you are in for a good time. Worth renting.

My husband and I didn't give up on this - we watched the entire film. But it never went anywhere and didn't make us care for/about any of the characters. Reminded us of the Christian Bale movie "Empire of the Sun." We just kept waiting for something interesting to happen and it just never did.
