I bought the soundtrack because a few of the songs were haunting, and it's a nicely polished-up version of the songs in the movie: excellent. There's also a bonus DVD. There's always those who cannot sit through musicals but this one had a story and a very nice one at that.
The actors are relaxed and yet wonderful in their roles. Even though i am not a fan of some of the music it was very well done. I esp liked the piano -guitar duet scene in back of the music shop. Stay with it for a cool ending. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More While not a "great" movie this indy film is a different take on the "musical" and succeeds in being a realistic look at two charming characters and their intersection through music. Although I am not personally a fan of much of the music itself, it fits the film well and I grew to like it better within the context of the movie. The movie has the main thing I look for--it appears to be about real people in a realistic situation, and tells a good story. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

If the music and singing were better it maybe but it fell rather flat. I like Glen Hasard (loved him in The Commitments) and his band The Frames but this did not do him justice. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More This was a great movie. It was a very simple story of a man and a woman becoming good friends through appreciation of each other's music, and learning about the other through making music and other events. However, they both had significant others in their pasts with whom they hoped to reunite, so they could not go beyond friendship. In the context of the movie the music was good, and was essential to the story. The movie was rated R because some characters, especially Glen's character, it was so routine it was just part of his normal language. If you can ignore it, the movie is suitable for teenagers.
