this movie was the definiton of how a family should be. It was a good movie that made you think on how you treat your mom and it made you think how you would survive if your mom had passed away.

This movie hit very close to home. It was able to capture all the ups and downs of life, and death/ dying. Sally Field was wonderful, she made you see and feel every emotion. I especially loved the part when she ate ribs. The actors portraying her children were great and real. They argued and laughed and went through all the pain of knowing that they were helpless to change anything. It was so true to life, and a story that needed telling.

This movie was hard to watch. If you have ever been the sole caretaker of a close family member with a terminal disease like cancer, you know what I mean. It brought back memories of my mother-n-law, who lost her battle with cancer in 2005. This is a heavy movie. Get the Kleenex!

Having recently gone through several close deaths this movie was close to what I have experienced. It is a time of openess and truth, joy and sorrow and rembrances. Sally Field did a phenominal job as usual. Worth seeing a second time to get what one missed the first time.

Forget that the word 'comedy' appears in the description. There is nothing even slightly comedic about this film. It is one of the most depressing films you will ever see. Sally Field is excellent, as always, and the other actors put together fine performances as well. The directing is good and the screenplay is well-written. But here's the thing. When I went through this with my mother, it was one of the saddest times of my life. Why in the world would I want to live through someone else's version of the same experience as entertainment? If you have been through this, then how could you ever want to repeat it? If you have never been through this, then count yourself lucky and save yourself the suffering now. Life will offer you real challenges and legitimately sad times without your having to seek them out in film. I gave it three stars for the quality of the acting.

Some things just should not be shared. This was obviously very personal and very depressing. If you haven't already, don't watch it.
