But playing the entire 5 to 7 minutes of every song on the soundtrack during random scenes of nothingness made me press the fast forward button a million times. You can't bore the audience to tears with the art of it, it has to at some point make them care about the characters. Close this ReviewWAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

It had some good skate clips, but sucked beyond belief as far as a movie. I was amazed that there were still references to the war...thats just pathetic... WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Absolutely the WORST movie I have even seen, We were falling asleep not long after the movie started. The ending wasn't really an ending, it's like they just ran out of film (or disk space) and the movie just stopped wherever it was at.

This was a terrible movie. Even though I didn't get much past 20 minutes into it, I feel that it was a complete waste of my time. It was like a home movie...no plot...bad acting. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Read MoreAnother Gus van Sant film that challenges the way cinema is done. If you are looking for a mainstream film about skateboarders (with a plot that holds your hand through the storyline and has a skater subculture soundtrack) then this is not for you. Rent "Lords of Dogtown" instead.
However, if you appreciate independent film that gives the viewer an alternative to the typical hollywood garbage, and challenges you to make your own interpretations, then you will be in for something highly worthwhile. It is a great story (based on the book by Blake Nelson) that adapts to film very well by the talented Van Sant.
Gus van Sant directs flawlessly, with a cast of mostly unknowns, and makes this an honest portrait of a typical american kid who is involved in a horrific "crime". Close this ReviewWAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes
