The rest of the group should go into retirement. I couldn't make it past 3 songs on this disc. It is so sad that was once the top rock show is now just travelling on their own coattails. While the video portion of the film is great, the audio is awful. The mix is driven by what you see. If the clip is of Mick you can't hear Keith. Then to Keith and you can't hear Mick. Martin should have done the video and left the sound to the Mobile. It was really frustrating. The backround info was well done too. But it doesn't make up for the botched concert sound. Read More Pretty good doc, although with Scorsese and all the talent on-board I expected perfection. (There's actually not much "doc" or interviews included, a very large majority is from the two-day concert performance.) Buddy Guy's guitar mastery and showmanship in "Champagne & Reefer" is definitely a must-see highlight, but disappointingly Jack White seemed drowned out on guitar in "Loving Cup" (perhaps tech issues?) . Overall, a couple of hours of fine performances, in some cases classic (Buddy Guy). Highly recommended to all rock fans. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

i was most surprised and impressed by the masterful directing and editing. this film flows like a beautiful ballet of light and spirit. There are too many great songs to mention. Scorsese has done a brilliant job with this film. The lighting, filming and editing are stunning achievements. This is a great work. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More From a purely concert-dvd perspective, this dvd is fantastic. The venue is beautiful, the lighting is fantastic, and the sound and cinematography are immersive enough to put the viewer front and center. More importantly, the Stones simply deliver. Where Mick Jagger gets his unbridled energy will always be a mystery, but be bounds on stage for a solid two hours and shows no signs of slowing down. As for the documentary portions, they felt tacked on as an afterthought. And why Martin Scorcese is involved, who knows. It sure doesn't show his mark as a director. The interview scenes are chopped in and intrusive, and the production scenes simply detract from an otherwise enjoyable concert. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

The whole band is clearly having a blast, the audience is into it, beautiful venue, and a lot of deep cuts mixed in with you favorites. Mick is moving all over the place like he's 15 years old. Sure, they make mistakes, but man do I love seeing that more than some record-company-created spit shine suckfest. The guest appearances are kind of blah, but it helps mix things up a bit. Essential for any Stones fan, and a great place to start for someone who needs an introduction to the band.
I was suprised that the documentary parts are pretty much throwaway (Scorsese *did* direct this, right??) . The good stuff is all in the music. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More This concert had the potential to be fairly entertaining but I found the audio mix to be extremely annoying. Scorsese must have decided it would be cool to enhance the volume of whoever was getting the camera action at the time. So what you'd get is a little Kief riff pumped way above the level it should have been and sounding sorely out of place. The same thing would happen when showing Mick J. parade around the stage. Ron Wood was practically ignored and often times his lead work was overshadowed because of the whole "who's in the camera gets the volume boost". If your ears are not sensitive to this type of thing or you have a crappy audio system you'll probably enjoy the film. However I was utterly disappointed. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Mick Jagger sounded HORRIBLE. The band looked like they did not want to be there. If you want to see the whole Clinton family waste you time this film does that as well. I have never written a review in my life and watch a ton of movies but this was so bad I thought I would try to let others know. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
