And, where was Scorsese's stamp as a great filmmaker? The fact the film opens with his last-minute script changes and his fretting about the shots? The song list lacked the b***s for which the Stones are so widely known. Scorsese missed the opportunity to connect the archival footage fully with the song list of the film. What a disappointment! Read More Scorsese is warned early on by one of Mick's handlers that, if the spotlight remains on him too long, Mick might bust into flames. But seriously, having always missed the opportunity, I looked forward to the concert, albeit on film. The Stones, especially accentuated by Keith's paunch, look creepily emaciated. Despite his leathery, fleshless body--except for arm muscles needed to hold the mic before his cavern of teeth--Mick's amazing non-stop energy is undoubtedly what has kept the Stones in the rock and roll game. Keith did his guitar work folded over at the edge of the stage, but I was impressed he could kneel and still get up--I know my knees are shot! Sadly Keith's solos were so awful Scorsese himself had to alleviate his own cringing by editing them with bits of ancient Keith interviews or sending them to the limbo of special features. Otherwise, Mick's singing was okay, but I'm betting you'll get more satisfaction from plugging in one of the Stones classic albums. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

As the owner of other Stones DVD's; The Biggest Bang and Four Flicks, you could say I'm addicted to to the band and their music. Shine A Light will be added to my collection.
The sheer volume of choices for songs are a testiment to the band's longevity and prolific output. Archival footage puts into perspective how ageless and timeless these guys really are. I want whatever they're taking!
All three of the band's guests; Jack White, Christina Aguilera and Buddy Guy bring something to the table in their duets with Mr. Jagger; but none more than Buddy Guy, whose voice at 71 years old will shake your place and rattle the windows. Keith Richards is so impressed by Buddy, that he hands him his guitar and says: "it's yours"....
Overall a great DVD. Fire up the surround sound and be entertained by the "World's Greatest Rock and Roll Band'. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More I love the stones since the 60's (yes Im an old rocker & have GOOOD hearing) but mick's voice is gone. Its so sad to hear a person you have revered forever sound FLAT. Most of the movie was listening to Mick singing in the same monotone voice. The rest of the band was great & Micks' energy AMAZING - but he can't go up an octave or down and octave - (as I noticed during the Stones 1/2 time performance at the superbowl & hoped I was wrong) I was underamazed at this bio and wish I had just listened to my CDs. I LOVE THE STONES! & more power to them for rocking out for so long. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

I was looking for more behind the scenes footage and background to these ageless rockers. Nothing special here. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
