Read More The film itself is a treat for any Stones fan. Scorsese did a nice job catching great shots and coming about as close as you can to bringing Jagger's energy to the big screen. I liked the way Scorsese didn't change shots every half second, giving you a chance to take in the scene and digest it before going on to the next. i hate when the director cuts from a scene just as you're about to make out what's in it. BUT... it is really just a limited concert movie (with footage from one, maybe two?) venues and the anticipated documentary piece of it is almost non-existant.
You have to click on the "Extras" section to get some old footage of Mick and the boys when they were just starting out-

Read More not bad, but it's sad marty didn't try and let the band pick songs they woulda liked to perform for themselves. it's a stadium show set list in an intimate theatre. why? do i really need to see these guys play satisfaction again? so many possibilities out the window. someone tell me why marty has to keep popping up to remind us that he's cool too. Read More Scorsese did a wonderful job, Charlie Watts was his usual steady self, it was fun to see the old pirate duo of Keith and Ronnie, but this film (like most Stones shows) belongs to the greatest front man in the history of Rock - the Peter Pan of music - Mick Jagger! Find me a 23 year-old who can outdo this incomparable 63 year-old showman, and I'll be more than a little surprised. It's astonishing what an incredible physical specimen Jagger really is. Who would of thought that rock 'n' roll stars like Jagger, Pete Townshend, Roger Daltry, Paul McCartney - would end up in better shape than the former professional athletes their age? This film is awesome, and it made me proud to have been a Stones fan my whole life.
John Lennon once said Mick Jagger was the Charlie Chaplin of rock. He still is. It's amazing enough that he can still really perform like Mick Jagger - but I think in certain ways, he's actually improved his live performance. Getting better at 63! A must see!! One gets the sense of looking at some strange animals thought to be extinct. Faces ravaged by years of drug abuse, these men are trapped by their, with no exit strategy, fated to repeat the same rock star moves and sing the same songs until they expire. Some musicians can carry off still playing at 65 because they mature, but Mick Jagger has moved beyond self-parody into something embarrassing and terrible. Keith Richards is truly the undead. Read More I don't think the creators of this film understand the meaning of the word "documentary". This was just a video of a couple of concerts, and not very good ones at that, with a few very short old film clips of band interviews thrown in between songs. About 40 minutes into the film I started fast forwarding through the songs to get to the interviews which were not even worth it. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||
