All of the elements are there. I do caution that if you are not a Speed Racer fan, this movie is not for you, but if you are, then hold on tight and relive your childhood. Read More The aspect of this movie that makes it worth seeing are the visualls! I highly recommend that you see this movie in IMAX or at a theater that has HD projectors. The wachowski brothers make use of every color ever seen by the naked eye and more. Read More I went into this movie with low expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised. The kid and monkey were as corny and stupid as the original cartoon, but then again, that's a good thing. The Wachowski bros. put a new twist into the movie while keeping true to it's classic nature. Besides the awesome look of the film, the story was updated for the views today. 13 out of 21 people found this review helpful This film is a watershed film in that the cinematography is done in what is called High Dynamic Range imagery (or HDR imaging). The colors pop from the screen and are almost like an additional character. It is STUNNING with the addition of the visual effects. I was shocked to see this movie was so poorly rated. They took the characters right from the TV show, so they are all over the top, showy exaggerations. If you go in with that attitude then you wont be disappointed in this ground breaking visually stunning flick.WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

Read More I have not enjoyed a movie so much in a long time. Although some may need seizure medication from all the bright flashing lights I found myself immersed in a childhood (live action) cartoon fantasy. My 14yr old son and I saw both Iron Man and Speed Racer together and Speed Racer gets our vote hands down. The story and action held true to form and the live action and AIG merged flawlessly. At times I found myself audibly cheering for Speed as I sat in my seat. Go Speed Racer Go!! This one is a big screen must but should be well enjoyed on any home theatre. The special effects and brilliant colors make for a true cartoon come to life feel. Emille Hirsch was effortless. His Speed was perfect, he played it straight, which helps you buy into the whole scenario.
