Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982)

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan is fondly regarded as being the closest in spirit to the 1966-69 TV series that spawned it. Admiral Kirk (William Shatner) escapes the tedium of a desk job to join Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy) and Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy (DeForest Kelley) on another space mission. While boldly going where no man etc. etc., Kirk crosses the path of his old enemy Khan (Ricardo Montalban), who as any die-hard Trekker can tell you, was the chief antagonist in the 1966 Trek TV episode "Space Seed." Leading a crew of near-savage space prisoners, Khan insinuates himself into the Genesis Project, which is designed to introduce living organisms on long-dead planets. Intending to harness this program for his own despotic purposes, Khan engages in battle with the Enterprise crew. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

This one has it all: space battles, an incredible villian, conflict on the ship, sacrifice, everything. One of the best sci-fi movies I've seen

This and ST3:(Spock) are the best ST movies ever. You should watch them both together, since they are 1 story line. Lines from this movie became legendary 1-liners. (Shatner: ..."KAAAAHHHN!!!!" Best Shatner line, ever. It's well acted, and the climax is very actually touching, not cheesy. Very well done sci-fi, since it connects on a human level in the end, despite the surroundings of space, aliens, and starships.

This is probably the best trek movie with the original cast. The series tie in plus Ricardo's just right amount of over the the top baddie you really want to see blown to smithereens makes for an incredibly entertaining movie.

This movie was much better than the first one. Had a lot of good action. Plus Khan made it worth watching. Just seeing the ongoing battle between Kirk and Khan. Story was solid in this one as well. I wasn't to fond of the ending with Kirk and his son. The whole movie was pretty serious until the end. Then it became all mushy. With Kirk and his son reuniting and Spock leaving this world. But don't worry, he will be back in the 3rd one. I'm sure of that.

I'll try to avoid spoilers the best I can. Simply put, The Wrath of Khan is an old-fashioned pirate adventure deceptively set in the Star Trek world. Khan is a pirate that sets out on a course for revenge to destroy his mortal enemy, a (star)ship captain that marooned him on a deserted island(planet). And whereas, Star Wars battles are like airplane dogfights, Star Trek's are like naval battles. It is that simple concept that sets off the high drama and is generally why this Star Trek is regarded as the best of all the movies. Not to mention, the effects are still impressive, and the music is spectacular. All in all, a fun adventure movie. It is also the first part in a trilogy within the series of Star Trek movies.

The second "Star Trek" film does everything right that the first didn't-adding more action, character development/interaction, humor and emotion to the film. The special effects, done by ILM, are pretty good too, although some shots of the Enterprise are reused from the first film.

Spock and crew have been hitting the donuts a bit hard after their TV retirement - and have a hard time fitting back into their time-warp pants !!

This description was not clear. It's only the bonus disc - even though it says in the description it's both movie and special features. Totally misleading.
