This is not your typical prodigy movie. Vitus is an extremely gifted pianist plus a genius academically. As he grows up, it is hard to find a place for him in typical schools. His parents don’t want him in a “special” school and he doesn’t fit in the system. His great wish is to be normal and he becomes that thru a cleaver rouse. Vitus has friends now but his best friend remains his grandfather. Money is a problem for his grandfather. While discussing this, Vitus learns that the company where his inventor father works is in financial trouble. Vitus uses his genius to settle everything. The actors are great, the direction keeps the story moving, and the writer put a lot of life lessons in this film without becoming tedious. This is a great film for adults and children.

The movie progress rather slowly... as the director intended it to be. The child actor is a real pianist. Don't miss the director's comment, it is very interesting!

Vitus was a charming exploration into the potential power of the human mind and heart and how a young child deals with having a mind that is way outside of the box. The interaction of all of the other personalities and how they handle Vitus's gifts are interesting too....some people stifle him and some people encourage him. I loved the acting and the piano playing and the exploration of how our talents as humans are wonderful in the context of giving them as joyful gifts rather than having to become a stage monkey for the satisfaction of parental egos. I love foreign films and am SO happy when they subtitle instead of dub. The subtitles seem to drop away and I just get into the movie and forget about them. I would love more heart-warming tales like Vitus.

Subtitles don't bother me at all. I LOVED Vitus! And the fact that Teo Gheorghiu (11 years old at the time), who portrays Vitus and is a truly gifted child piano prodigy in his own right, is what attracted me to see this movie all the more. The story is wonderful and inspiring, and all the classics Teo/Vitus played in this movies a truly awesome! I recommend it wholeheartedly.

I loved this film. kinda reminded me of a german version of August Rush (which I also liked very much), but I liked this even more. I don't usually mind subtitles, but my boyfriend doesn't like them much. He left the room in the beginning because of the subtitles, but when he came back a bit later he got reeled in and watched it with me - he now raves about the movie. So don't let the subtitles stop you!

Another SUBTITLED movie that is not worth "the read"..This plot has been done before and will be done again. The GERMANS are REALLY strugling now to put something together in the film world as they have not had a movie money maker in over 10 years. And this is definately NOT their meal ticket. If you want to see A GOOD child musical prodigy movie--wait another couple weeks and rent the AMERICAN version titled "AUGUST RUSH"..Now thats a Awesome movie. Let this fake german version one go into the vast wasteland trashcan of german foreign films..
