Punk rock's first great embodiment of the motto "live fast and die young," Sid Vicious joined The Sex Pistols when they were already established as the most controversial rock band in British history; and it soon became apparent that he couldn't play his instrument, had a magnetic attraction to chaos, and possessed a dangerous thirst for booze, drugs, and violence. Sid & Nancy opens shortly after Sid (Gary Oldman) joined the band, when he meets an obnoxious American punk groupie named Nancy Spungen (Chloe Webb). Nancy claims that she can get drugs, and Sid naively gives her his money. Nancy doesn't show up with the goods, but when Sid runs into her a few days later, she has a tall tale about getting ripped off - and Sid sympathizes with her. Before long, Sid and Nancy have fallen in love, and while they argue with uncommon vehemence, they also depend completely on each other. When The Sex Pistols break up, Sid has few prospects and an increasingly voracious appetite for heroin, and Nancy's attempts to "manage" his career only hasten his downhill slide. Former Clash leader Joe Strummer wrote the film's theme song, "Love Kills," and The Pogues, The Circle Jerks, and Pray for Rain contributed to the soundtrack. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

If you think your kid is using drugs, or worried about peer pressure, show them this movie, it will clear it right up for them. Drugs don't do good things, great film, such a shame though.

Made Sid more popular...Sick, Vicious, but true. Drug Addiction not made glamorous. I think the movie was very close to capturing the complete insanity of the time.

Some people relate to The Notebook and get all teary eyed, but me, my fairy tale romance is the true story of Sid and Nancy. Though the movie ends with only one theory of Nancy's Tragedy, I cry, at more than one part, nearly every damn time. I've seen this like 50-60 times, and kept it for like a month. I absolutely love this movie. It tells the story well and they couldn't have gotten better actors to play Sid & Nancy. This is deffinetly my favorite movie of all time.

This movie was really not so good. Yes, it showed the dark side of drugs, but that is about it. the acting was awful. He mumbled through the whole movie, and she did nothing but scream. Pretty much a waste of time.

This movie was one of the best rock star movies ever, except for the end. I watched this movie to see Sid all the up to the end, but he did not die in this movie. I thought it would be his hole life up till the end.

This movie is amazing. Gary Oldman is really great in this movie as Sid. He shows us the set up, the mess up, the fall and rise of a star then the crash and burn. I'm not sure how accurate this film is with the facts but it's interesting to watch.

A great portrayal of one of the most classic love stories of all time.

This movie had bad acting, and a lot of yelling and screaming. Nancy was a little annoying to say the least. I had to use subtitles because I couldn't understand a word they were saying.
