Chasing Christmas (2005) Reviews

Chasing Christmas (2005)
Member Rating:
A modern-day Scrooge looking to make Christmas miserable for everyone around him receives an important lesson in the true meaning of the season in this contemporary re-telling of the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol. Jack Cameron (Tom Arnold) is a deeply embittered divorcee who has no time for the cheery, pink-cheeked trappings of Christmas. After taking note of Jack's decidedly glum opinion of the holiday season, the hard working Bureau of Yuletide Affairs dispatches the equally curmudgeonly Ghost of Christmas Past (Leslie Jordan) to give Jack a revealing look at the Christmas celebrations of yesteryear. When the ill-tempered specter absconds mid-mission and leaves Jack trapped in the past, it's up to the radiant Ghost of Christmas Present (Andrea Roth) to transport Jack back to the present where he truly belongs. Now, as Jack travels forward in time with the Ghost of Christmas Present, he finally sees the error of his ways and determines to save the future of the holiday he once so despised. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

We thought the movie was a fun romp that the whole family would enjoy. No blood and guts or foul language, a nice change! We thought the adult underground humor was funny.

Nice Christmas spirit but boring in places. Nice meaning to Christmas.

I gave it a chance, but couldn't stand more than 20 minutes of this film. Bad acting, annoying acting, bad - just bad!!!!

This movie started slow and crept along. It should have generated a warm fuzzy feeling, but fell short.

I rented it because I heard it was a family movie (surprising for Tom Arnold). However even my 6 year old was bored! I only watched it to see Leslie Jordan (loved him in Will and Grace). Tom was atrocious in this movie. I've seen better acting from elementary children. Sad little movie.

A Christmas Carol in modern times with emphasis on the ghost back office. The annoying, effeminate Xmas Past becomes a renegade time traveler, after 2000 years of loyal service, because he wants to smoke, drink and dance again. This means that this year's Scrooge client, Jack Cameron played by Tom Arnold, will be stranded in the past with him. Not so bad except when it reaches midnight Jack will cease to exist, his daughter will be erased and the universe will implode. They say cigarettes are bad for you but this is ridiculous! The back office sends in Xmas Present to mop up the Christmess. This story has grand potential for metaphysical inquiry and great promise for a mind-bending ending. Instead, it ends uneventfully with Jack alone on his porch screaming into empty air. Except for a few good scenes, the story execution is bland, the acting is mediocre, the cinematography lacks festivity, and they smoke and drink a lot for a family movie. They should rename it: Christmas Chaser!

This movie is stupid and boring---not worth renting unless you want a movie with no substance.
