Based on the famous comic strip, Sheena chronicles the adventures of the title character (Tanya Roberts), a fair-skinned orphan taken in by a kindly Zambouli priestess (Elizabeth of Toro, a real-life African queen) in a remote African village and trained in the ancient arts of makeup and hairstyling. When American newsmen Fletcher (Donovan Scott) and Vic (Ted Wass) travel to her homeland to cover a story on Prince Otwani (Trevor Thomas), they uncover his plot to assassinate his brother, the reigning prince (a renowned field-goal kicker), and frame the priestess for the crime. Sheena joins forces with the newsmen to stop him and restore order to the country. Although Roberts looks great in a loincloth, her assets alone cannot save this turkey; one wonders where the jungle princess manages to plug in her blow-dryer. For having a PG rating, someone was asleep at the wheel. It seems like there are more minutes of topless nudity in this film than the average 'R'-rated sexploitation film. Aside from that, it is mostly 'G' material with a below-average script and sub-par acting. Given a decent director, script, and a good acting coach, Tanya Roberts might have turned into a really good actress. Nevertheless, this DVD does have a decent musical score, great location shots, lots of real animals, and both the widescreen and full screen versions. The action is mostly centered on the screen, so there is very little panning in the full screen version. BB doesn’t rate the films, but this is solid ‘R’ material for nudity and is definitely not for the kids.

So bad, its good. Tanya Roberts took this movie very seriously but the rest of the cast was in on the joke. That made the movie pretty fun.

This is not a movie for the kids because of the nudity. However, the story was enjoyable especially with lots of action. What was really wonderful about it was the beautiful location shots and the way Sheena communicated with the animals.

This is a movie not from the TV Series. I did enjoy it very much for the story and development of how Sheena evolved from bith to Queen of the jungle. There is a lot of good action scenes and tender moments to keep people from getting distracted from the movie Joe

Tanya Roberts nude is the only reason to see this movie. Don't get me wrong, that's a pretty good reason... Would make a good MST3K flick.

OK, so it's a stupid plot. OK, so Tanya isn't Faye Dunnaway. But.....it can be an entertaining venture, just as the comic by that same name was fun. I think the most interesting thing is to see Roberts at that age/stage and then watch her in her supporting role in the TV series, That 70's Show, as the good looking, bimbo mom of the co star. There are some cool technical gotchas, like the helicopter with the guns taped to the skids, the stereotyped merc colonel who just relishes killing people, the fingers pressed to the forehead to summon obedient jungle animals and the horse painted to look like a zebra, but I suggest none of this is any worse than watching, say, America's Next Top Model, or LOST, or NASCAR races, all of which qualify as dumber than this one.

Sheena: a movie about a female Tarzan with nice boobies and the civilized man who fell for them, er, I mean for her. Not a bad soundtrack, set at exotic locations with fair acting performances. However, cheesy story about natives going up against tanks and jeeps with thier birds and lions to end enviromental abuse.
