Dynasty Warriors? Romance of the Three Kingdoms? Ancient Chinese history? You ever wondered what China was doing when the Roman Empire was expanding? Then this is the movie for you. Not only is it packed with badass martial arts swordplay fight scenes, the strategies improvised by the characters make the movie all the more appealing. An epic scale use of archers, infantry of all types, and fast moving heavily armored cavalry. Not to mention how the beautiful and charming Princess Shang Xiang manages to outflank an entire forward cavalry brigade with her personal band of female bodyguards. Long story short, you won't be disappointed.

By far Red Cliff I & II are John Woo's finest films/work to date. This 1st part is over 2 hours long but because it is so well directed in every way, you can't help but want more of it. Very best movie I have seen coming out of Hong Kong or Asia as a whole. This movie will blow away "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon," & "House of Flying Daggers" and hopefully will win some at the Academy & Golden Globe. Go see this in the Theaters when it comes out late November 2009, you won't regret it, well worth the $10 admission or more if you buy drink and popcorn. But if you're the type that don't like to read movies with subtitles, then go see something else. Cannot wait for Red Cliff Part I & II to come out at the movies, 'coz I want to see them both in big screens & will definitely buy them on Blu-ray when they come out.
