I enjoy considering the supernatural and am actually a "conservationist", so I thought the movie might have something for me. Just falls flat...utterly failing as an "agenda" movie, with 1-D characters and views... and failing in the "horror" genre, as a slow build-up should have a payoff worthy of the wait (see Alien or Alien 2 for some help here, director).
It always amuses me when member reviewers who wish to shove some agenda down our throats tell us "well....this movie was made for intelligent, thoughtful people, so most commoners won't get it"....I'm sure glad we have those leftist wanna-be intellectual snobs out there to tell us what we're missing....sheeesh! It looks creepy, but there was only one frightening moment towards the end and it was short lived. I kept waiting for something to happen and I lost interest several times. It was agony to get through this movie. The concept was interesting, but a BORING delivery. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More This movie was far from scary. The acting was "so-so" at best and the effects, the few that there were, just were about what I see on computer games online. This was little more than a try to cause panic over global warming movie with the thin veil of attempting to be a horror movie. Yes it did allude to Native American Mythology but not much more. I was at least hoping for some suspense. The teaser made it sound almost like a cross betwee Wendigo and the Thing. Even the "mysterious box" seemed to have a name that played on that myth, but nothing else.
This movie was disappointing overall. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Don't believe it. It was not scary and you will be sadly dissapointed you wasted your time and money. I complained to Blockbuster in an email and all they said was to check out what others have rated the movie. It you look at the member rating, it gives it three and a half stars. So much for member ratings. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More This movie really left me thinking about what we are doing to our planet, and the possible consequences of drilling for oil in Alaska. The whole theory of oil being decomposed matter from millions of years ago and that it might contain the DNA or essence of creatures that once walked the earth long long ago really fascinated me. I guess I find the story believable as I am open-minded when it comes to the supernatural.
I also believe that the movie is geared toward an intelligent thinking person, and might explain why the average reviewer might not enjoy it. Perhaps they just didn't understand it or aren't open to such possibilitles. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
