I don't know if I have the cruel heart to rate this 2.5 stars like the average, but it wasn't really much better. The story line itself, the plot, and the idea is actually quite great. The origin of the being/presence could have really been done the right way, which was anything BUT the way they did it and it just made the movie seem too 3rd rate, even for a Weinstein movie. Once you saw "the thing," the rest of the movie just took on a cheesy, overplayed role that made it no different from any of the "I know what you did last summer" movies.
