i'm normally not a fan of westerns, but 3:10 to yuma was a suprisingly good movie...christian bale just keeps on showing that he is well worthy of his first oscar nomination...russell crowe delivers one of his better performances after a recent personal "hiatus" of quality movies..while most of the focus was on bale and crowe, ben foster's performance was meritorious (ona side note, it was mildly funny seeing luke wilson make a short appearence)....the great performances could not overcome the fact that there just was not as many shoot-out scenes as you would expect from a western, however all of the shooting scenes in the film were entertaining...in the end, 3:10 was a well-done movie that i would definitly recomend

Only on occasion does a movie stay with me for days. This was one of those films. I found the characters to be realistically life like for the time period of when the rail road was being built out West. Historically this film showed a time frame and reality of the times that I have not seen in Western film. Every ethnic culture was represented with accuracy in time period costume. An image that continues to return to me was a cameo shot of a woman dressed in overcoat and pants with a gun belt strapped around her waist. The entire costuming for this film was extraordinary. Women in the film were portrayed as the strong characters, again showing how difficult it was for both women and men to settle the rough territory that is now California. The most crucial importance of this film was that the political and ethical messages compliment the believable inter-relationship of the characters. There was a lot of violence in this film but tastefully done.

I dont like westerns, but I fell in love with this masterpiece. Its the ultimate movie about the virtues of good and evil. Evil needs good for Evil to exist. I got to watch the original. Great acting!!!!

Very predictable! Great if you like Westerns. A little cheesy towards the end.

I thought it was going to be a great movie, but the story fell apart. One part started to look like a stupid "Shoot'em up Western."

Hurrah for a real old fashioned western! This remake (which I normally deplore) is even better than the original (was that ME that said that?) The Aussie (Crowe) and the Englishman (Bale) nailed their starring roles perfectly in this American Western like they were born and raised in Texas. Go figure. They were WONderful. Have to say that Peter Fonda and Ben Foster gave great supporting roles as did Logan Leman who played Bale's young son. To those that say this was unbelievable and couldn't have happened - DUH - this is a western - not an historical account of any real event and meant for fun and fancy in a good ol' shoot-em up kind of way. It's an old western - a 1950s remake in fact - and almost exactly like the original...if not a wee bit better. I hope that director James Mangold will not make this his last western and will give us another - this was fun and exciting and one I'd like to own.

This so called western movie should have never been remade, Glenn Ford original was much better.
