Read MoreI guess I'm disagreeing with most of the other reviewers since I liked the first installment better then this one.Not that "Hellboy II" is bad, it's just overdone. Fantastic effects and scenes, but everything was crazy-elaborate. Too many too weird characters, too much love story, too many wisecracks/jokes, and on the other hand, the plot was just not so entertaining. I guess I'm just getting bored with super beings that are tormented souls, having to deal with all their personal problems, etc. He's a big red demon with an attitude protecting humanity from an array of evil demons. Read MoreAlthough I had read this storyline was better than the first, I have to disagree. It was a good follow-up film, but some changes were made that were disruptive to the power of the first film. Although not as humorous as the first, which gave it that extra something you couldn't forget, del Toro still pulled off a nice adaptation of a character from comics that stands out as masterful. Add to this his amazing ability to create mythical characters to enhance the mood of the film and you have a good overall story. Still, nothing like the first film. Read MoreI thought HB 1 was better than the first. The storyline had too much of the love story aspect, not as dark as I expect from a comic book adaptation. Good points: Perlman is excellent as HB (wisecracks were an added addition) and the CGI work was far better the Hulk (Norton version). Otherwise, HB 2 is a good guilty pleasure movie. Once again Hollywood should have left well enough alone and NOT made a sequel to what was a very good original movie. This movie isn't horrible, but compared to the first one it's disappointing. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes
