From the memoirs of poet Blake Morrison comes this story of a man coming to terms with his father's impending death and their life long struggles to understand and appreciate one another. Colin Firth brings a nice performance here, but I must say I simply didn't care for his character (either as a child or an adult) and found myself having trouble in sympathizing with him. Not a bad film over-all but not going to make my list of favorite Colin Firth films.

I thought this was an excellent movie. So many of us can relate to it especially we baby-boomers that witnessed this type of behavior by our parents.

I always watch movies with the subtitles on because of being hard of hearing. This one did not have subtitles so it was even worse with the Bristish accent. I understood about a third of a scene and had to try to piece together what was happening. I was so bored I also fell asleep so might have missed something of the plot. I was hoping since this is a true story that something amazing was going to happen but nothing did. I guess someone thought the photography would be artistic constantly showing scenes through windows, mirrors etc. After the first time it is not artistic anymore. I cannot think of one thing I liked about this movie and wished I had not wasted my time.

It really was ok... but I hate it when I cry... also lots of jumping around... I hate that if it really doesn't help the movie..
