I saw this in the theater as a kid and I really enjoyed it. Now that I see it again, it's actually not as funny as I remembered, but has a few laughs and is enjoyable to watch. It's really more dry humor than the slapstick stuff seen in things like Scary Movie or Airplane. The plot is more Lovecraftian than anything else, revolving around an evil book which releases monsters when read, and which both Dracula (played rather oddly by Jeffry Tambor) and Dr. Van Helsing are after. The ending actually has quite a twist. No real violence, but there is a severed head that is shown quite a bit, so perhaps not real suitable for small children (though I guess I saw it when I was 10)

The title is misleading, it is not a spoof on Friday the 13th. It is a spoof on all horror movies. The acting is not great, the dialog is cheezy at times and the film quality is sub standard but boy did I like this movie. I am not sure exactly why I liked this film soo much but I did. I am usually a sucker for any kind of horror related film, but this spoof made me laugh out loud. This movie is not for everyone, its a film that will cater to the goofballs in the world (like me). If you take the film lightly and realize how cheezy it is, you will have a good time.
