I've loved "The Rose" since I first saw it in theaters eyars ago. Back then, I thought the music was fantastic, the story line was entertaining, and the performances were excellent (especially by Better Midler in the starring role). Now, I find that all three (music, story and performances) have stood the test of time - even better than before.

I think this is one of Bette Midler's best roles. She is hearbreakingly believable in her ups and downs, struggling with the perils of fame and addiction. A plus is that the music is a blast.
