Read MoreThere are six glaring errors in the above synopsis, which makes me think that Mark Deming paid someone else to see this film. In any event, "Ira & Abby", which was scripted by and co-stars Jennifer Westfeldt as Abby, contains very witty dialogue, served up deliciously by both Westfeldt and her excellent co-stars, most notably Chris Messina as Ira. The comedy is alternately cynical and light and is enjoyable almost until the very end. For my taste, the conclusion is as unexpected as it is deeply disappointing; however, others may disagree. Both romantics and cynics should find the film generally pleasing, especially if they are New Yorkers at heart. But trust me: Don't rent this for Valentine's Day. They meet and get married on the spur of the moment.Its not the greatest movie , but was enough interesting dialog to keep me amused. Its funny how everyone is this movie is in thereapy of one kind or another. Is this a New york thing?..Anyway it is a crazy enough plot and the male lead is neurotic enough to keep the audience watching for the duration of the movie. Three stars is an appropriate rating as this movie is not exactly a must watch, but at least its not a total bomb either. Mabe its a movie to watch on a rainy day. Westfeldt is not as annoying here as she is in Kissing Jessica Stein. This movie is entertaining but I think not as "profound" as it hoped to be. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

This movie was very enjoyable! While the theme may be semi-depressing (affairs & divorces), the characters are unique and they play extremely well off of one another. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes
