I enjoyed watching it... a movie for women I think. It focuses on the beautiful and ugly little details in life and in relationships but it is much more than that. Both leading ladies look fabulous as usual and their roles are acted out well. The frequent flashbacks were a bit too much especially since they kept repeating the same scenes several times. All the low ratings I read were from people who did not understand the movie. My problem was that I understood it too soon, it spoiled the suspense.
The movie should have another title. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

It kept us fascinated wondering where this was going and how it ws going to end. Unfortunately, we got to the end and I asked my spouse, "What just happened?" I had to go online to find the answer to the "twist" ending. I read that the director thought that people should know the "surprise" ending before they saw the film in order to appreciate it as they viewed it. Well, I wish I had known that before. Anyway, worth a watch but pay attention and consider taking the director's advice. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Brilliant, Emotionally sophisticated, Redemptive: Based on author Laura Kasischke's novel, The Life Before Her Eyes, this is a Brilliantly directed, Emotionally sophisticated, coming of age movie with a redemptive Christian theme. When I saw that this independent film was directed by the director of "House of Sand and Fog", I knew I would like it. HOWEVER, if Christian themed movies offend you, this is NOT the movie for you. Evan Rachel Wood is brilliant and knocks this role out of the park! The dialogue is real and intelligent. The music and Cinematography (Pawel Edelman) are masterfully woven into the movie by this brilliant director. I am not a big fan of the current movie style of going back and forth in time, but the director uses that method well. Don't be fooled by the hard hitting subject matter (drug use, teenage promiscuity, strong language, gun violence), the messages/moral of the movie is 100% redemptive and Christian. You mean to tell me that she goes from looking like THAT to what uma looks like in 12 years? No way.Nuff said this movie is a stinker.not even a good chick flick..
