I found this movie entertaining due to the fact I kept trying to figure out what was going on thorought the movie. Then at the end, I was disappointed because I still did not know for sure what happened! Did she survive or die? Did she really have a daughter name Emma and a husband or was this her imagination? Or was Emma the daughter she aborted that never existed and was her husband actually the teacher she had an affair with as a teenager? I had lots of unanswered questions when this movie ended which was kind of frustrating. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More This movie didn't make any sense in the end so I could only give it 2 1/2 stars. If they had been able to tie everything together and make sense I would be recommending this movie. It was well made, good story, excellent acting, but it just didn't tie together in the end. I'm still not exactly sure what the point was. And yes I did watch the extras to hear what the ending was supposed to be about, but even that didn't make sense. The directors basically tried to add 2 + 2 to get 5, and that just didn't work. Read More Unless you're a huge Uma Thurman fan and simply must see everything she is in, skip this movie and go read the book it's based on instead. The novel The Life Before Her Eyes by Laura Kasischke is quite good while this film version takes what is deftly handled in Kasischke's prose and turns it into overwrought and ham handed musings about life. Read More opening credits kinda put you to sleep, the movie jumps around within the main characters life from high school where a major tragedy happens to her adult life, some of the times for very mundane reasons that they think the audience wouldn't be able to put together themselves. Through the movie you see what its like to be a survivor of a catastrophe and still be a functioning part of society. The jumps back keep leading up to the major event where her or her best friend get shot by a fellow student gone off the deep end wielding an automatic machine gun. I'll just say that the end was kinda a let down so as not to spoil it anymore than it did itself. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
