THIS DVD WAS RELEASED WITH 3-D GLASSES, BUT NONE WERE INCLUDED WITH THIS RENTAL. WE ORDERED IT BECAUSE WE WANTED TO SEE IT IN 3 -D AND WE WERE NOT HAPPY WITH THIS RENTAL FOR THAT REASON.

I enjoyed the version with James Mason a little more, but the fact that I was a kid at the time may be the reason. I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed the movie as much as I did. Brendan Fraser's acting style contributed to the enjoyment. The special effects were good, but more action would have added to the movie. I watched the movie in 2D at home. I would imagine that the 3D version viewed at a theater would have added to the enjoyment even though the quality may have fell short of the quality of the 3D movies at Disneyworld. Definitely worth a watch if you like fantasy/action flicks.

The movie looks like it would have been great to see in a theater in 3d. Because it was made to be seen in 3d some of the action does not translate in a 2d setting. So, overlooking that and just ...

In spite of the illogical sequence of events, this would be a good film for kids. As an adult, you'll have to suspend facts and accept the story that they put forward. Then you'll realize, that it's just a story. The acting ans script are ill contrived, but a teenager may find this film quite amusing.

Loads of anticipation, then disappointed. I like Brendan Fraser, and figured the film would play off his Mummy acting, but definitely the director is to blame in this film for lacking believability throughout most of the films actors roles. Anita Briem could have been a robot for how little "acting" she did. The storyline was like looking at placecards flipped up on a screen. 3D perhaps, but so what new technology if when distributed it isn't entertaining to all the senses. Too gimmicky (word?)

My kids are teenagers now and it is hard to find a movie we can all watch together and this one we actually did. It was exciting and fun.

Thankfully, this film is no where near as long as the 60's version and just as enjoyable. The special effects are amazing and the storyline overall is quite good. Good family film!

I got this movie on a whim but I'm so glad I did. It is an innovative way of telling the classic Jules Vern story in a modern setting without being totally unbelievable. I also like that it's rated PG so I can recommend it to my mom without being embarrassed by a scene that I forgot about. The special effects are really cool and the special features on the dvd are a lot of fun too. Brendan Fraser never looked better.
