Read More Maybe I missed the boat here - but I watched this movie with almost no emotion - I chuckled a couple of times, but that was about it. I rented it because I heard it on a critic's top ten list of 2007. I don't know how that happened, maybe the critic only saw 10 movies that year. Not the worst movie, but there are about 179 movies off the top of me head that I would reccomend before this one. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
0 out of 0 people found this review helpful Travel doesn't have to take place by airplane -- sometimes all you have to do is watch the movies that people make for themselves to experience a different culture. Here is a slice of Eastern European humor served up without ketchup -- it's wry and understated and overstated and deeply satisfying. Quite a sidetrip from American comedy blockbusters. I only wish it had been longer. What was there was marvelous.WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Anyone looking for slam-bang entertainment should steer clear of "12:08 East of Bucharest." The early going could best be described by the adjective "drab." It's not until the last half hour that you realize that this pallor is intentional and essential to the film's ultimate trajectory: there is method to the writer/director's madness, as the film blossoms into a rather brilliant social satire about life after the revolution. Impressive (if you have the patience). Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
