Poor editing results in several loose ends, unanswered questions, disjointed sequences, etc. Moreover, the ending is REALLY lame. However, I must say that Parker Posey is really cute and does a nice job with her role. Hence the overall 3-star rating. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More If you're not on antidepressants before starting this, you'll want to be when it's over. Parker Posey, in another of her quirky indie film roles, is a 30-something hotel concierge who hasn't had a successful relationship in years. We see her through several dates set up by others, all sorry flops - she finds out she's just someone on the side for one, another one can't even complete the date because he's not over his last girlfriend, and so on. She gets to the point that she sabotages the dates with indifference and refusal to really engage - and who can blame her when she's told her life story to so many bozos over the years already? She finally meets a Frenchman who has possibilities, but her hopes are dashed when he announces he's going back home. The film becomes hopeful when she goes after him...but the earlier hour-plus is such a downer that I couldn't get past it to hope with her. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Regardless what the cover of the DVD says, this is NOT a romantic comedy, nor is Parker Posey's character, Nora, some "every woman." In fact, that designation is insulting to women. Nora, is an emotionally "broken" person who drifts from man to man wondering why no relationship lasts. She is lonely, self-loathing, passive aggressive, and with no solid sense of self. She is in need of some serious mental/emtional help. The tragedy is that she will not go there because she fears her worst sense of self will only be confirmed. So she travels half way around the world looking for "magic." Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Many people in Nora's (Posey's) life care for her, but she can't see it. At the end of the movie, I don't think her character has grown, though, the producer clearly wants you to believe that. This isn't a film I'll be recommending. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More This movie did well in a story line that resembles what many of us read in the news. Acting was fair but the acting kept your attention based on alot of realities people go through. From a troubled disfunctional life and seeing everyone but yourself in relationships while you always feel like the 3rd wheel and not getting younger, the movie does well in taking us on a ride of what one person had to do to find her place in life. If you've ever felt lost and have a meaningless existance, watch this film. It ends well. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More I didn't like Parker Posey's role in this - nor that of her best friend played by Drea de Matteo. Their long suffering complaints over their lives while they dragged on their cigarettes with long ashes hanging by a thread, while the Posey character made one bad choice after another & called it "bad luck". Made me want to slap 'em silly and send them off to work with starving children or with the sick and dying in the world to show them what suffering really can be. Just whining spoiled rich girl blah blah blah. I did like the character of her French love-interest played by Melvil Poupaud. There was potential here to be a good and thoughtful thing, but instead it was for the most part pretty boring and hard to sit through without rolling my eyes a lot. This one wasn't for me.
