You certainly have to watch it after Night Watch, but I would not recommend seeing it without the intention of continuing to watch the rest of the movies to come. Once they start the movie, it goes all over the place. There is not a single coherent story in this film. This makes me wonder about Russian film makers. If it were filled with nudity or violence, then there would at least be a purpose. But "NO!", they actually try and have dialogue. The problem is that it doesn't lead to anything or follow any logic. It's almost as though each scene is taken from a different movie. So, you have about 40 scenes from 40 different movies not making any sense. AVOID THIS FILM!!! Read More When I watch a movie, I'm seeing the MOVIE. I don't care how the books that preceded it were, because we all the movies won't likely do the books any justice.--- This movie did NO JUSTICE to anything at all. It was horrible from start to finish, whether you watch it in English or Russian. It was just that hard to follow. --- Chances are, if you did not read the books, you got this because of the FX you saw on the previews. Don't waste your time with the movie, because the little 30 seconds of FX was the best part of the movie. --- Don't listen to the people that compare this to Matrix or Underworld or anything else. Having the "Chalk of Fate" be the bookends of the main story seemed to be quite the copout. Otherwise, it definitely has me wanting to follow the trilogy....
