OK, with that said, this is the second film in a trilogy and was an excellent follow-up to Night Watch. I am surprised by all the negative remarks because not only do my wife and I like these movies, but all the die-hard self-described movie critics at work love this film also. Perhaps I enjoy these so much because my wife is Ukrainian and she has some very strange superstitions, so seeing the film was a big "Ah ha! That's where she gets it from!" So if you are interested in foreign superstitions that predate the U.S. by a millennia and can appreciate cultural films, you may very well enjoy these movies. But if you are looking for standard Hollywood special effects and a cookie cutter action movie, then this will disappoint you. Close this ReviewWAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Read MoreLet me preface this by saying that I was a HUGE fan of the first movie. I read the first 2 book and really enjoyed them. The movies are loosely based on the books. As for this movie, the anticipation was killing me. It got hype, it looked really pretty and the story looked promising. Somewhere it failed. It was too much flash and not enough substance. Watching this movie was like recieving a big, beautifully wrapped gift only to open it up and find a pair of plain, white socks. I was disappointed. unkowingly rented a subtitled movie, hardly any action - the trailer was better than the whole movie. poorly done. special effects ok, but didn't last long enough to enjoy. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

You can tell Russia doesn't have the same writing skills that are found in Hollywood. The special effects weren't half bad, but the story jumped from one effect to another, with no real story that brought the movie together, or if there was one, it must have been in the first movie cause this one made no sense at all.
