Read More The basic plot is the forces of dark and light keep a centuries old truce to prevent the complete destruction of the world. Anton, a member of the Night Watch (the good guys), is the father of a boy, who is rumored to be a legendary Great One (albeit one of the bad guys), while Anton's girlfriend and fellow Night Watch agent is another legendary Great One. They must never cross paths or risk the world's destruction due to the power struggle. Please watch the first movie "Night Watch" before you see "Day Watch", so you have a better idea of what is going on. Another suggestion is to read the books, which the movies were based on. The second movie gives such a brief background, that if you have not seen the first movie, you will be a bit lost. The special effects are good considering that it is a Russian film. It had the potential to be a good movie, and was very futuristic, but just didn't seem to make any sense. Of course it is in Russian, so I had to read the subtitles and couldn't really watch the movie, and I was also busy doing stuff and not really paying attention. I really don't know what it was about, except that it had vampires and witches, and they were fighting... over what, I don't know. I turned it off before it ended. I wouldn't recommend this movie unless you can speak/understand Russian, or.... you have the time to sit and pay complete attention to this movie. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? I still haven't figured out what the rules are for these protectors. The ... Read More I didn't much care for the first movie of this series, night watch, and I like Day Watch even less. This movie is a mess. I still haven't figured out what the rules are for these protectors. The story meandors and is way too long. This movie is well over 2 hours long and you feel every insufferable second. The ending is pretty cool and there are some good special effects with the bouncing death balls. The plot is very jagged and confusing. The whole party scene at the end was drawn out too long. Alot of plot holes. Special effects where pretty good thougth and there were some cool stunts. But I mean the story was just ridiculous. And they didnt explain stuff well.. like the love relationship with the bad guys wife and the young vampire.. like wtf! That was out of nowhere and it just suddenly happended for no real apparent reason. The chalk thing wasnt well done. Read More i've been watching a lot of foreign films lately, trying to take a break from all the hollywood formula stuff. watched the trailer for this, and it looked interesting. it was entertaining, and not your usual shoot em up action film. there was some very high concept stuff attempted here, to various degrees of success. it seemed as though not all dialogue was english subtitled, and some crucial detail may have missed. i enjoyed it, but i found it very difficult to follow. i do not know how much of that was lost in the transltion, and how much might be sloppy film making.interesting ending. lead "bad girl" is really hot.
