I'm a sucker for Christmas movies, but tire of the same old stuff. This was better than I expected and worth watching, but no marathon material like Christmas Story or Christmas Vacation.

Our family of four, with two young teens, mildly enjoyed this movie but it rates less then 3 Stars so we won't be watching it again any time soon. DeVito and Broderick are comic heavyweights and there seems to be some chemistry between them so it takes some effort to pinpoint why Deck The Halls is flat. Basically, the movie trudges along from one contrived scene to the next with a handful of slap-stick thrown in to keep us in our seats. I blame it on poor directing and poor performances from the supporting cast. The actors either appear to be acting or overacting. The exception is Kal Penn of The Namesake (2006) who delivers an uncredited cameo playing Amit Sayid spokesman of the My Earth web site that is monitoring DeVito's house from space. When a reporter asks about their holiday he states in a British accent, "Basil's mum stopped by with a tin of biscuits so we're just having a laugh", implying that all a geek needs to be happy on Christmas is a computer and a few crackers. Funny!

This is very slow. Really had little humor. You keep waiting for something funny, but it doesn't come. Not the worst thing I ever saw, but quite boring all the same.

The jokes are few and far between and they are just not that funny.

I was completely surprised by how bad this movie was, I thought it was going to be at least a decen movie. This film was so predictable and so boring. I expected so much more. I can't believe I sat through the whole movie. I debated turning it off the whole time. Such a bad movie, I don't even think I laughed once. I don't recommend this movie as even a one time watch.

As other reviewers have stated...this could have been a much funnier movie. It was good, I would watch it again...but not quite what I was expecting.

This is just your typical corny holiday movie - although this one was probably the worst I've seen in recent memory. The acting was atrocious, but I'm not a DeVito or Broderick fan either. D

Danny DeVito and Matthew Broderick must have been hurting for work. Everything about this movie was a real stinker. It makes Ishtar an Academy award winner candidate
