This movie just reminded me why I don't watch Woody Allen movies anymore. Woody's mannerisms and dialogue have become almost cliched and he even had Scarlett sounding like him. Most irritating was the faux pas of the safe combination. It was revealed as 16-21-12. Then Woody opened the safe with 16-20-12. When he was locked in and Scarlett rescued him it was 16-21-12 again. Inexcusable! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Anyway, Scarlett J. is great as a "plain jade" journalism student who falls for Hugh Jackman. Recommended! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
0 out of 1 people found this review helpful I loved the story and Woody acts and directs in this one (he's charming in this role) Loved Hugh Jackman BUT for Scarlett who I normally enjoy - this was just not her film. Over-all very enjoyable.WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

It seemed to have a decent cast, but don't let that fool you. Woody Allen provided some good and very needed comic relief in the movie, but even still it wasn't enough to keep my interest. The camera work was bland and the storyline was very predictable and had almost no surprise to it. Not a "laugh out loud" type of comedy as it claims itself to be. In Scoop, Allen was unbearable with his neurotic dialogue. Plot development was weak; you really don't care for any of the characters or what happens. No suspense was built up; limited creativity. Scarlet Johansen presented an interesting character using an Allenesque NY persona. It is difficult to think of a redeemable quality in this film. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Read More if you're a fan of Woody Allen movies. you may find this movie enjoyable... and although I respect his work, I could not find this movie enjoyable... It was long and boring, the comedy was dry and seems forced.. and just an unbelievable storyline. I like Scarlett Johansson - and who wouldn't- she's a good looking actress.. but not a very convincing character in this one... I found myself fast forwarding through the movie just to get to the end so I could finish it! Sorry, I just found it torture to watch. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More I haven't really liked Scartlett Johansson in anything I've seen her in, but at least in the other movies she didn't act like she was in a bad high school play. This, however, was just about the worst acting I've ever seen. I can't blame it all on her, however, as the story was so implausible, especially the relationship between Scarlett and Woody. The wonderful Hugh Jackman seemed to do the best he could with a terrible script, but even he couldn't save it. Everyone involved with this film must have done it to say they were in a Woody Allen film, but I don't think I would even put this one on my resume if I were them. If you like romantic comedies, if you like mysteries, even if you like Woody Allen movies, don't see this film. You'll be very disappointed. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL?
