Was talking about this movie hours after it was over. Really makes you think if doing the right thing is really the right thing to do. Great subtle ending that allowed me to sit there and agree/disagree with my own thoughts and then discuss it with my wife afterwards. We both really enjoyed this movie.

You'll find yourself talking about the movie afterwards. You'll want to find out their opinion on what choices were made. Very deep. An excellent movie to recommend.

Not for kids...very, very profane language and difficult Boston accents. The story, however, was interesting.

Yes, this film drops the f-bomb quite often. It portrays the working class people of a neighborhood in Boston where most middle-class people wouldn't think of going. If you can get past this, you may actually enjoy this film- great acting and full of realism. Ben Afflleck intentionally cast the extras and bit players from the actual neighborhood of Dorchester. So you will see real people who have been connected to poverty, drugs, lack of educaton, and likely connected to crime. No one looks glamourous, but they do reflect the grittiness of this part of town. If you don't get a feel for these people and their situation, you will never understand the portrayed violence and questions about what is moral. Desperation has clearly led to tough choices that most people can't fully comprehend. As to the accent- this is an accent that is particular to this part of town- not a "Boston accent" as other reviewers have indicated. This is a demonstration of the Affleck's commitment to authenticity.

The movie overall was pretty good. The plot was very well done and the actors did a great job. However, the language was absolutely horrible! The "F-word" seems to be a favorite these days. What is sad, is that this movie would have EASILY stood on its own if they left it out completely. I know everyone says that this only portrays real life; but if this is true, what does this say about our society?

If you are looking for a way to spend a depressing evening, then rent Gone, Baby Gone. If you have children, the whole plot, including the gloomy scene involving a pedophile at the end will make you wish you had spent your time doing anything other than watching such a horrific story. If you want to be reminded that we live in a pretty sick world, then you may actually get a kick out of this flick. There is one potential use for the movie (as I do want to end on a positive note here): it could actually help deter someone from trying drugs, as the lifestyle of the druggies in the movie depicts pure misery and self-hatred.

As a former theatre reviewer of Broadway shows, an acting teacher in various colleges and one who has studied acting more years then I care to remember; I can say that the male lead brought down this movie because he failed to attend speech classes. I understand an accent was called for in his part. It was supposed to be a Bostonian accent and it ended up being low mumbling words strung together to form what Iam assuming were supposed to be sentences. The male lead failed as an actor which ruined the movie for me. I would have walked out except for the fact that I was watching this unsuccessful attempt of acting in my den. Communication should be a more important requirement then being related to the powers behind this film.
