The first half of the movie was excellent showing life through the eyes of an upper middle class Jewish boy in Los Angles struggling through leaving childhood to become a man. The portrayals of the boy, the parents, the grand parents, the rabbi, the cantor and competing Steins are excellent. The movie adds great tasteful humor in the right places. However, some of themes such as the disconnection between the father and grandfather take over too much of the movie. Also, the movie takes a sudden when the boy decides that his Bar Mitzwah should focus more on meaning and less on the monitary social aspects. While the intent is good the plot goes a little south. All together it is a family movie to be watched by all familys experiencing a Bar Mitwah or a wedding. The theme is very much like a Jewish "My Big Fat Greek Wedding".

The opening scene, of the Titanic Bar Mitzvah, was great. After that, it was slow paced, boring, and completely non-creative.

While i did not find the movie to be hilarious, i enjoyed it very much. I was very pleased to see tradition and reverence win over pomp and circumstance. This movie was a pleasant surprise.

a sometimes charming, completely predictable comedy that had very few laughs. It had a lot of great stars, but everything in the movie just didn't mesh!

It was not the greatest movie that i have seen. At some moments it was quite boring, although it did had a story line. It was wierd and i porbably would have cut out some scenes.

This movie had a chance ,but the wirting lost it about 20 minutes in. It could of had you laughing but it just stopped short some where. Too bad, had a good story line.

I think anything that Jeremy is in, Including Entourage, is all eyes on him. He is full of life, funny, real, good body too! I think he has what Jennife Lopez has as an actor- the real feeling of someone.. He is great! I loved it. My husband watched with me, and he liked it, but prefers action...I would watch it agin.

I watched this movie hoping to see something funny. I didn't laugh once, and it was actually insulting...I advise to rent something else.
