Read More We love the TV series and couldn't wait to rent this movie. It starts out pretty good, same cynical humor, but then the plot begins to plod along while Homer tries to redeem himself after dumping pig manure into Springfield lake and dooming the town at the hands of the EPA. Their peak was in the early to mid nineties, when Conan was an occasional writer. The writing today is god awful, which is why this movie sucked so bad. Rent season 3-9, they are much better and only a half hour per episode.
Thought the pig joke really wasnt that funny and was dragged out as a nonsensical gag way to long. Homer used to be much cooler. It is a little more dramatic and faster at times than the show, but that's about the only difference. The first half delivers some pretty good laughs but by the time the first hour is ending, it gets repatitive and predictable. It is still worth watching for any fan of the TV show but don't expect anything that is beyond the laughs you usually get on the show (at times the show has been much, much funnier than this movie actually). But as a movie, it was like the titanic movie-- overextended, and excessive. The light satire it added in regards to Arnold Schwarzenegger, USA's government, and so forth was amusing, especially since it touches on some truths, albeit with hyperbole.
