Dustin Hoffman is truly one of the greatest living actors! He melts away entirely into his character and is so believable as an autistic savant. Tom Cruise is actually not annoying in this film - the film tracks his character's progress of becoming less self-involved. Truly a great film and definitely worth watching! Read More This is one of those Tom Cruise movies that shows how great Tom was before he became a moron. I hate Tom Cruise now due to the crap he pulled on Oprah, his judgmental comments towards women and depression and his overall attitude. He was such a great actor but now he is right up there with Michael Jackson... Oh back to the point here, the movie. Dustin Hoffman made this movie, his acting was extraordinary. If you like old Tom Cruise movies and can handle a serious movie you will love this.

Read More Barry Levinson has made characters the audience can genuinely care for. I most closely identified with the Charlie Babbitt character - his 'Type A' personality and his frustration with his autistic brother Raymond takes aggravation to the next level. Not an action packed move and you have to listen for the funny stuff. and youll feel almost guilty for chuckling at it. Great move. Rent it. It will be two hours well spent. In this movie, he did, and he won an academy award for his efforts. Cruise, in the twilight time when he wasn't just some "kid" and most certainly not the mass-media superstar he is today, also contributed to the movie's real-life core as a gotta-go, huck 'em and shuck 'em foreign car distributor. This illusion begans to crumble when he, after his estranged father's death, finds out that he has an autistic savant brother who is extremely gifted with numbers but terrible with life. The movie is very genuine and sweet, and there isn't a human alive who won't be touched by the dancing scene between Hoffman and Cruise. It is also funny and sad, and compared with some of the movies today, it looms. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||
