Read More This movie is beautifully filmed and acted, as you would expect from the Scorses - DeNiro - Pesci triumverate, but I left feeling a bit hollow. It's a biopic, and unfortunately the main subject doesn't change much from beginning to end. He may have been a great fighter, but you get the sense that neither Jake LaMotta or any of his close acquaintances were all that pleasant to be around, and watching them at their worst in this movie doesn't give you much to root for or relate to. The movie actually goes a long way to confirming that if you're famous and successful, people will enable you to be a jerk. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Some scenes were slow but then there would be a huge powerful scene to make up for it. Artistic style was also good, might have done a little more to enhance the black and white effect. Got a little confused about him taking the fall, but then again I was high. Overall, great classic and a must see. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Historically, however, having grown up in that era, I found it somewhat interesting. This guy was crude, uneducated, paranoid, an abuser, etc., and he's lucky he finished his fight career with any brains left at all. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

The movie was slow and drawn out. Scorsese does his typical theme of trying to make you like a thug or at least partially sympathize with him. There are two spots in this movie which compells me to recommend it. One: the cinematography was absolutely stunning. Two: Robert De Niro gives one of the best performances I have ever seen an actor give. His acting alone is woth seeing this film. I give credit to Scorsese for casting and cinematography but once again his movies are convaluted, and boring. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

The story is choppy, the dialogue is horrible, there is no script to this film. There are so many parts that are just left hanging. What happens to DeNiro's first wife? It doesn't even compare to a film like Rocky. There is victory and satisfaction in Rocky. There is just defeat, loneliness, and self hatred in this film and that isn't even done well. I do NOT recommend this film. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

I had anticipated a lot of action, but the film didn't quite deliver as much as I had hoped. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
