To call this just a sports movie is slightly misleading. It is more of an exploration into the detached, self destructive character of boxer Jake LaMotta. Deniro's performance is among the best ever. Pesci is critical to the film and Scorcese paces the action perfectly. Chapman's cinematography is asotounding. Quite simply - this is one of the best films ever made. It certainly makes my top ten list.

One of the greatest movies ever made. I can't believe it came in second at the academy awards that year. The Academy should hang it head in same. You can't loose, even if you don't like boxing and even if you hate blood...this movie overcomes both objections.

Never saw Raging Bull after meaning to for 20 yrs.. and thought that now was the time. Best thing about movie was Joe Pesci and he was cut out of last 1/3 of movie. Fight scenes were too numerous and short, very choppy story line. Maybe just too high of expectations??

"big" actors. oh, did you see all the blood squirting out? the slow motion? the weight gain? hear the animal sounds? the dramatic score? how about all those neat moving shots? the accolades surrounding this film must have been an organized scam. dont waste over 2 hrs of your life on this.
