Disney does it again. Usually Disney family movies start out a little somber then get light-hearted...this one starts out light-hearted, then gets somber, then gets light-hearted again. Has special effects, but is not a special effects movie...it is a movie for the IMAGINATION. Not for very young children, but other than that, perfect for the entire family. My husband loved the movie also...so it's not just for "women & children" (lol). I agree with other reviewers...make sure you have a box of tissues available. We will DEFINITELY watch this one again. The one thing that you can not expect it that it is a Narnia like film. You have to keep in your mind that it is their imaginations and that is all, not a real land. I think it is nice to have a movie that can show a relationship between and boy and girl and not have to have them kiss or anything else. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

The previews showed a very whimsical, fantasy, kid's film. Not very whimsical and I definitely would not call this a kid's film, however, I thought it was a great movie and a very unique story. Much more serious than I expected and without spoiling it for anyone - had a turn in the movie that was not expected at all - what a tear-jerker. Here I am, just turned 50 and crying my eyes out (along with my 11 year old daughter). Very moving, but do not have little ones watch this - I think it would be a little over their heads and maybe even a little disturbing. Good for the tweens and up. It looked great for kids. We were shocked at the actual movie and my 6 and 12 year old were so upset. Horrible marketing for this. If we were ready for the ending - it would have been fine. If it were anything like the movie previews (I am referring to the magical land that really is only about five minutes in the movie) it would have been great. Too bad it was misleading. Read More Bridge to Terabithia had a very good story and could have been one of the best of the year however it fell short of the mark. The acting in this movie was top notch and they quickly drew you into their day to day lives yet this was not enough to keep the interest of the adults or children. If you watched the trailers then you have seen most of the interesting parts of the movie. I believe children the age of 9 to 12 may enjoy it but adults and younger children probably will not enjoy the movie. I was very disappointed in the movie and thought it could be much better. Perhaps if they come out with a sequel it might be worth renting to see if they made any improvements. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
