Although the trailers show a "Narnia" type movie, it is a pretty good rendition of the book. The book was great (I'm a fifth grade teacher) and the movie did it justice. Many great lessons throughout the movie. We discussed it as a class for over an hour until I finally had to stop the kids' exicted responses. It's not meant for young children. It's a Newbery book and probably an appropriate movie for 9-13 year olds. Many kids (even the tough boys) cried when we went to see it as a class this week.

My son and I went to see this movie at the theater. Although it was a cute movie, as others have stated before myself, it was advertised as something that it was not. I agree that it was more on the lines of "My Girl" than it was "Narnia." Small children may not be able to handle the film as there was **SPOILER ALERT** bullying (some violence) and a death of a main character.

I really liked the movie, but it was so sad! I thought the kids were great actors, but I expected it to be more of a kids movie. Even the previews before the movie were geared towards small children and I don't think that children will understand this as adults would. It was a little depressing, but worth seeing (without children).

Slow moving for kids. When the girl died my 6 year old turned to glare at me! He was very upset that I had taken him to see such a sad movie, we thought it would be totally different.

Whomever the marketing company for this movie was way off! The movie was advertised to be a Kids/Fantasy type, even being dubbed the next Chronicles of Narnia, this was the furthest from the truth. One the movie was Fantasy for all of about 15 total minutes of the movie and it dealt with way to many subjects at once for any kid to follow for one movie (love, death, bullies, heaven/hell...etc). This is definitely not a kids movie and as an Adult I felt that they pushed to many messages in this movie to really drive any of them home with the viewer.

Loved it... I think it was a great kids movie. kids movies should be real and not just candy coated. I would rather see a longer version of this, than a shorter version of Lord of the rings.

We took the kids to the theater to see this movie. Even my husband had tears, and I bawled (likely the reason was we'd had recently lost 2 children in our family). It looks like Narnia and it's not. It jumps around and the story is okay, but it's just plain sad with no point for being so. I wish I had known what it was really about.

Wow! I watched this movie this weekend with my 3, 5, and 6 year old. They were bored to tears and I was left disapointed. I would agree with those who said this movie was marketed wrong. I thought it was going to be a great visual effects movie and what you see in the advertisement is the very end of the movie, and only for a few minutes. This movie is very sad!! If you watch it with all that is said in these reviews, you may like it. Although this movie is not intended for small children. They will not understand. I will not own this movie.

My son loved the last 10 minutes of it (the only magical cool part of it). Not made for kids. I cried like a baby. Not recommended!
