Santa's black-sheep brother gets a much-needed shot at redemption in this holiday comedy reuniting actor Vince Vaughn and director David Dobkin (Clay Pigeons, Wedding Crashers). It's not easy being the brother of a benevolent and beloved saint, and no one knows that better than Fred Claus (Vaughn). After struggling for years to live up to the example set by his younger sibling Nicholas (Paul Giamatti), Fred has finally given up. These days Fred is working as a repo man taken to stealing the items he repossesses, and his shady tactics have just landed him in jail. While Mrs. Claus vehemently insists that Fred fend for himself, Nicholas refuses to sit idly by as his brother rots in jail and agrees to set bail if Fred will repay the debt by coming to the North Pole and help make toys for the upcoming Christmas season. But Fred isn't nearly as productive as your average elf, and he's got quite an attitude to boot. People are being way too harsh on this film. To tell you the truth, I was expecting it to be good but I didn't think it would be funny. However, I was really surprised how much I liked it and how many times I laughed hard. Ironically, Vince Vaughn's sarcasm and tiredness makes those corny "be yourself" and "we have to work together" scenes feel less cheesy and awkward. Instead he made those scenes feel comfortable and fresh. Plus, its WAY better than the unfunny Deck the Halls and thoughless Christmas with the Kranks. Don't believe any negative comment people tell you about this movie --- they're just angry by how successful its doing. Unlike alot of family films today, parents AND children with both enjoy Fred Claus.

Instant Christmas classic. It has the typical Vince Vaughn humor, mixed with a little holiday spirit. I put it up there with with Elf as a modern holiday classic.

I went to this movie because my 9 year old wanted to see it. I saw the reviews and was prepared for a bad movie. Instead what i got was an entertaining movie that made me feel warm and fuzzy :). it was an odd movie to see Vince Vaughn in as it didn't have the typical bad words etc(Thus the rating) I am not sure why it has the bad reviews except maybe it is not a *deep* enough movie for some. i wished it was released closer to Christmas as it has a nice holiday feel to it. i say go and see it. it's good. It won't get an Oscar but hey it is a great little movie and perfect for younger kids.

This movie was horrible. It was not funny at all. The elves were obviously CGI. Very canned sentimental stuff - cliche. I do not want to see "Stressed-Out Santa". Plus, Vince Vaughan plays the same dude in every single movie. I was unpleasantly surprised to see a couple of great actors in this horrible movie. And - it wasn't even appropriate for children. Some of the jokes are for adults and "Santa's Little Helper" is dressed inappropriately.
