This WWII romance story is full of charm . I personally loved this film. No, it doesn't have the fast pace nonsense of movies today. In it's simplicity it is clear to see why Sean Penn has been dubbed, "the greatest actor of our time"; and Nicolas Cage is right up there with him. Elizabeth McGovernis priceless. The beautiful settings and character development are a tribute to director Richard Benjamin who I adore and wish he made more movies.

While I didn't grow up during the 40's, I can only imagine that the setting is realistic.... military aicraft binocular spotting stations along the CA coastline, air raid drills and an old sleepy guy at the town's soda fountain. McGovern is the picture of innocence and Penn and Cage play a couple of nieve young buddies, living their lives to the hilt prior to going off to war. This is definitely a movie not to be missed....

This movie is definitely a sleeper. A very real and believable movie. Anything with a young Nick Cage and Sean Penn is usually good.

This is a really slow moving film, not a whole lot happens actually, but any Sean Penn or Nicolas Cafe fan will appreciate the early careers of these two major blockbuster actors.

In the words of the director, "A simple film" relying on the outstanding & newly found talents of Sean Penn (Hop) & Nicolas Cage (Nicky) whose friendship is the hub of the movie. While sweet & definatively nostalgic, it dares to tackle issues of abortion, prejudice, drafting, & teen sexuality in the 1940s that challenge the characters' relationships with one another.

I actually liked this movie but was disappointed by the language and sexual themes. I got this movie to watch as a family because of the PG rating. I had to turn it off and watch it without the kids. The story was good and I liked Sean Penn but there is some nudity and abortion as well as a lot of foul language. Not for children!

I think this should have been rated PG13.. I was supprised at a few of the scenes where one of them fully exposed Her breast. I was dissapointed with this movie.
