It's easy to call it a sports movie, but it's more than that. It would have been easy to focus the movie on the plane crash that wiped out their entire football program. They respectfully touch on those events to tell the story of a town and a football program in transition. The movie is really about heart and determination. So many people have been lost that the town is in shock that there is debate whether to even continue the football program. But the undying spirit of 3 seniors, a new coach, some freshman recruiting and some NCAA rule changes help to keep the program alive. A program that wasn't specifically successful in wins, but it was successful in bringing a town and a team back from the brink. The program would also go on to even greater success in following years and decades. Really inspirational movie. Very good for all to see. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

I wanted to watch it again two minutes after it ended. Instead, I went and bought it so I could watch it anytime I want :) Absolutely great down-to-earth acting. Simple story but strongly presented. Tear jerker may I add but, you cry as many times for "happy" moments as for "sad" moments. Truly heartfelt and uplifting. I strongly recommend it. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Read More I learned something from this movie: That a good coach teaches us how to move on after adversity, after losses. I always thought it was all about winning, but in sports and in the game of life, we don't always win. It's how we handle the losses that make us stronger. Be sure to watch the great extra on the DVD, interviewing 5 great coaches in collegiate sports, where they tell us in their own words their coaching philosophy. Very, very inspiring. The movie itself is well-acted, honestly showing the stages of loss. A movie so good that I could even forgive Matthew McConaughey's hilarious hair style. (Yes, I know people really wore their hair that way, as I lived through it, too). I highly recommend it. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
